Early Neurologic Stimulation
We engage our puppies in Early Neurologic Stimulation from Days 3-16. These are a set of evidence-based exercises performed early in a puppies life that have been researched and demonstrated to have lifelong effect. Five benefits that have been observed in dogs that were exposed to ENS are:
Improved cardio vascular performance (heart rate)
Stronger heart beats
Stronger adrenal glands
More tolerance to stress
Greater resistance to disease
I would encourage you to read more about these exercises, and how powerful these simple interventions can be to help a puppy be able to reach its full potential!
Early Scent Introduction
We perform Early Scent Introduction from Days 3-16. A unique scent is briefly introduced to the puppies each day and their reaction is recorded. While this program was originally designed to foster advanced scenting working dogs, research has shown that even pet puppies benefit as adults from this early intervention in terms of confidence, stability, optimism and fewer behavior problems.
How We Puppy
We utilize a hybrid of the Puppy Culture and the Badass Breeders Curriculum.
We introduce “one new thing a day” to the puppies starting around 4 weeks- a unique exposure designed to teach the puppies to have confidence in their abilities and to not be afraid of unfamiliar things and experiences. This can be items like balls, bubble wrap, pool noodles, aluminum foil or even ice. We encourage the puppies in the safety of their litter to be curious and explore new things. Additionally, we spend individual time with each puppy everyday, including things like puppy massage, getting to know them and fostering trust. We also take advantage of our mild climate to maximize supervised time outside. Fresh air and exploration is good for everyone!
We deworm the puppies at 2, 4, and 6 weeks of age and all of our puppies will be seen and evaluated by a licensed veterinarian prior to going home. All of our puppies come with a 2 year health guarantee. Please see our contract.
We say our puppies are “hand-raised.” What this means to us is that our puppies live in our home and are an active part of our household. They hear vacuums and other appliances, preparation of meals, music from dance parties, lots and lots of voices, and are handled all the time by our children. We introduce crates to help facilitate crate training at home. We play the same music every night as a routine to help them know that it is time for the household to settle down for bedtime. We take them out frequently during the day starting around week 5 to help get a head start on potty training. In all aspects of our puppy care we have in our mind the goal of helping the puppy have the most stable temperament and trust in humans that they can, and to make the transition of welcoming a new puppy into your home as low stress as it can be for both the family and the puppy. A good dog - whether working or as a companion - is breathtakingly beautiful thing. It is my personal goal as a breeder to love our puppies so thoroughly during our brief time with them that for the rest of their lives they will be able to live confidently and up to their maximum potential for having been thoughtfully cared for by us during their youngest days.
